Felipe Morente Mejías

Felipe Morente Mejías is a Spanish sociologist at the University of Jaén in Southern Spain. His areas of expertise and interest include the sociology of childhood with particular reference to poverty and social exclusion. He is also active in the area of the socio-cultural context of contemporary migration. He is the Director of the Andalucia Research Group on “Social problems, Ethnicity and Criminology”. Dr. Morente Mejías is also closely involved in applied sociology , working with a variety of social organisations in the areas of social justice and ethnic/cultural relations. He has been a visiting researcher at a range of Spanish and foreign universities including UCA Managua (Nicaragua) and the University of Essex (England). Within the comparative pilot study on super-diversity and pathways to health care in Europe he works on the Spanish case study.
