"Astoria project" exhibition

The “Astoria Project” student photography exhibition

LaGuardia Gallery of Photographic Arts, College’s B-building (3rd floor) at 30-20 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City

April - June 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The theme of this photo project was Interethnic Encounters in Astoria, NY. The student photographers were free to interpret this theme: their only limitation was geographical. Photos had to be taken in the Astoria neighborhood. The project was initiated by the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen, Germany. It was run collaboratively with LaGuardia Community College in Queens, New York. Dr. Anna Cieslik and Professor Scott Sternbach worked with a group of student volunteers to assist the MPI with understanding the local diversities in Astoria. http://www.laguardia.edu/astoriaproject/
