Dr. Nicolas Fliess

Curriculum Vitae

Nicolas Fliess is a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Bonn. His work focuses on the political inclusion and participation of migrants and their descendants in relation to political parties, state policies, and elections across Europe, Latin America, and global comparative contexts, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Nicolas holds a PhD in Migration Studies from the University of Sussex and is a member of the research group ‘Transnational Relations, Democratization and Migration’ (TransDeM) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Before that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity and the Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science at LMU Munich. He was also a visiting research fellow at UAB on two occasions, once at the Institute of Governance and Public Policy and once at the Department of Political Science. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from UAB and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Mannheim.
