Curriculum Vitae

Janet Bauer (Ph. D. Anthropology, Stanford University) is a professor in International Studies at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, former coordinator of Global Studies, former director of Trinity’s Women, Gender and Sexuality Program, a member of Hartford’s Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Affairs, and a visiting Fulbright Global Scholar (2017-2018). She has taught, conducted ethnographic research, and published on gender and mobility in Muslim societies (in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas). Since 1989, her research has included multi-generational work on Iranian refugee resettlement and community integration in Germany. During her stay at MPI MMG Janet will be doing research and writing of a comparative monograph on migration / refugees.
