Curriculum Vitae

Ayşe Güç-Işık received her PhD in Intercultural Studies from Australian Catholic University in May 2014. She started working for Social Sciences University of Ankara in August 2014 as an instructor. Based on two ethnographic fieldworks carried out in 2009 and 2011, her dissertation examined the establishment of intercultural engagement in Mardin, a city of Turkey. Ayse will run a new project entitled “Turkish Ethno-religious Diversity in Lower Saxony: Syriac, Ezidi and Mhallemi’s Transnational Networks”. The project will focus on the transnational linkages established by the Syriac, Ezidi, and Mhallemi groups of Turkey which immigrated to Germany from the 1960s to the 1990s. It will attempt to analyze the socio-political consequences of these transnational networks. Also, she is working on three articles related to cultural prejudices, socio-cultural boundaries and gender justice.
