Prof. Dr. Aninhalli Rame Vasavi

Aninhalli Rame Vasavi is a Social Anthropologist with an interest in the areas of sociology of India, agrarian studies, sociology of education, and integrated studies. She has engaged in field-based research over the past decade and a half and is currently completing a manuscript on the social biography of the nation since 1998. Her previous publications include, Harbingers of Rain: land and Life in South India; In an Outpost of the Global Economy (co-edited with Carol Upadhya), Inner Mirror: Translations of Kannada Writings on Society and Culture (edited, 2009). A new book, Suicides and the Predicament of Rural India (2012).
