Dr. Mary Zhao

Curriculum Vitae

Mary Zhao holds a Juris Doctor (“JD”) degree from Stanford University Law School (2018) and was a graduate fellow of the Stanford Center on International Conflict and Negotiation (2017-2018). Mary has held legal intern positions at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in Vienna, Austria, and at the International Law and Policy Institute in Oslo, Norway. Mary worked as a summer associate at Covington & Burling LLP and at Paul Hastings LLP, in the United States. During her studies at Stanford Law School, Mary conducted country of origin information research as part of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees research panel and prepared a section of a report for the International Criminal Police Organization that identified issues relating to regional collaborations. Currently, Mary is finishing revisions for a journal paper on the topic of procedural transparency in international commercial arbitration, examining whether the factors underlying the rise in transparency in investor-state arbitration are also present in international commercial arbitration.
