Dr. Sakura Yamamura

Sakura Yamamura war von September 2018 bis Februar 2022 Postdoktorandin in der Abteilung für soziokulturelle Vielfalt. Mit ihrer Expertise in Migrationsstudien, Stadt- und Wirtschaftsgeographie konzentrierte sie sich auf die Räumlichkeit von migrationsbedingter Diversität in globalen Städten wie Frankfurt und Tokio. Unter Anwendung sowohl quantitativer als auch qualitativer Methoden arbeitete sie an der geographischen Verortung und konzeptionellen Konkretisierung transnationaler Räume und wirft ein neues Licht auf sozial-räumliche urbane Transformationen, die durch die Interaktion verschiedener transnationaler Akteure induziert werden. Sie studierte Geographie, Soziologie und Sozial-/Kulturanthropologie an der Universität Hamburg, der Université de Paris 1 - Sorbonne und der University of California in Berkeley. Zuvor arbeitete sie in der Forschungsgruppe Migration am Hamburgischen WeltWirtschaftsInstitut (HWWI), in der Abteilung Internationale Migration der OECD und im Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF). Sie war Junior Visiting Fellow am Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration, and Development (MACIMIDE) an der Universität Maastricht und lehrte an den Instituten für Geographie der Universität Hamburg und Kiel.
