Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Dr. Zhuhui Yang obtained her doctoral degree on Ethnology and joined the Minzu University of China as a Lecturer in 1998. Her research mainly focusses on Chinese ethnic groups in the South, especially on the history, marriage and family of various ethnic groups such as the Dong(), the Dai
(
) and the Wa().

Prof. Yang has published several books concerning to these ethnic groups, such as Ethnography of Dong People, Minzu University Publishing House (2006); Chinese Dong People, Ningxia People’s Publishing House (2012); Study of Dong People’s Nuo () Culture, Minzu University Publishing House (2014); Tradition and Modern: A Study of Dai People’s Social Culture in Xishuangbanna, China Social Sciences Publishing House (2009). She also published the first work on marriage tradition of Chinese Wa People. Another monography titled Material Culture of Ethnic Groups in South-west China compares distinctive maternity cultures among various ethnic groups in the region. In addition, she is also the author of many articles appear on influential Chinese Journals, such as Journal of Minzu University of China, Journal of Ethno-National Studies.

In recent years, she has focused on the modernization of ethnic groups in China, and has elaborated her views through the study of rice culture. The output of her recent work includes several articles.
