Das Max-Planck-Institut zur Erforschung multireligiöser und multiethnischer Gesellschaften ist eines der führenden Zentren für die multidisziplinäre Erforschung der vielfältigen Formen von gesellschaftlicher Vielfalt in der aktuellen globalisierten Welt.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen hier der Staat mit seinen verschiedenen Ebenen, soziale und rechtliche Kategorisierungen und vermittelnde Organisationen. Widerspiegeln Organisationen und politische Institutionen Diversität? Sind sie offen für Wandel oder sperren sie sich?
SOZIALE INTERAKTIONEN UND EINSTELLUNGEN
Wie nehmen unterschiedliche Gruppen die Diversifizierung ihrer Städte, Wohngebiete und Gesellschaften wahr? Wie inklusiv oder exklusiv sind Begegnungen und andere soziale Interaktionen und wovon hängt dies ab?
INDIVIDUEN UND IHRE ERFAHRUNGEN
Mit Migration und Diversität verknüpfte Dynamiken sind vielfältig. Wie erleben und deuten Individuen Migration und Diversifizierung? Auf welche Art wird dies geprägt durch ihr Alter, Geschlecht, durch Rassismus? Welche Identifizierungen entstehen in unterschiedlichen Kontexten und Interaktionen?
