Dr. Laura Morosanu

Curriculum Vitae

Laura Morosanu is a guest in 2024. Laura is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Sussex and a member of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research. She also works as Associate Editor for the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and co-coordinate two research networks: the Ethnicity, Race and Diverse Societies Network at Sussex, and the Gender and Sexuality in Migration Research Standing Committee (GenSeM) within IMISCOE. Her research is broadly concerned with migrants’ experiences of integration and transnationalism, and how these are shaped by ethnicity and/or other categories of “difference”. She has explored these questions in the context of intra-European migration, as part of various research projects. These include three European projects under the Horizon 2020 programme, on which she was co-investigator: YMOBILITY, on youth mobilities in Europe, 2015–18; MIRNet, on developing migration and integration research excellence, 2019-23; and TRAFIG, on transnational figurations of displacement, 2019–22. In her current work, she examines (with Monica Serban) return migrants’ experiences abroad and remigration considerations, drawing on her YMOBILITY interviews with young Romanian returnees from key European destinations, such as Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
