This shared presentation draws on a binational research project which has been funded by the German Research Council (DFG) from 2009 to 2012. The project examined changing intergroup group-relations between immigrants and long-established residents in Duisburg-Marxloh and Bradford-Manningham from the 50ties till the years of our field research. Duisburg and Bradford had been elected for the comparative research design because, among other things, both cities have suffered from post-industrialization and have witnessed diverse intergroup conflicts on different levels of escalation. The study used diverse qualitative field research methods.
