Studies of migration and mobility often centre around aspirations for and constructions of alternative futures. There is an implicit assumption that it is the younger, mobile generations that are most concerned with the pursuit and negotiation
of these aspirations. The presumed linearity in these narratives further suggests that, over the course of time, one eventually settles. Yet how and at what point do people imagine this point of settlement, the end of negotiations and the achievement of a ‘good life’?
