- Start: Apr 28, 2022 10:00 AM (Local Time Germany)
- End: Apr 29, 2022 05:30 PM
- Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Beirut & online
The workshop is organized by Nadine Abdalla (AUC), Salwa Ismail (SOAS) and Hania Sobhy (MPI-MMG) in a hybrid format (in Beirut and online). The workshop features presentations of the planned contributions to the special issue on Lived Citizenship and Uprising in the Middle East, edited by Hania Sobhy, Salwa Ismail and Nadine Abdalla in the journal Citizenship Studies.
The special issue explores new ways of thinking about the everyday experiences that shape enactments of citizenship struggles in the MENA region and its diaspora. The contributions address aspects of lived citizenship and mobilization in Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Yemen, Turkey and for Syrian refugees in Istanbul. The workshop also features a roundtable on Lived Citizenship and Mobilization in Lebanon.
Interested scholars are invited to join online. To register for the event, please send an email with your name and affiliation to Dr. Nadine Abdalla by Monday 25 April at: nadine.abdalla(at)aucegypt.edu
