In the panel “The changing political consequences of attitudes to migration”, Eloisa will present a paper co-authored with Karen Schönwälder, “The Heterogenous Pro-Diversity Coalition: Public Opinion towards Immigration-Related Diversity in Urban Germany”. (23.05.2022 17.30). The paper uses data from the MPI-MMG based DivA Survey project, and shows that, when diversity support is understood in multidimensional fashion, the coalition of supporters for diversity changes to encompass more groups within society.
In the panel “Labour Markets and the Welfare State with an Immigration Focus”, Eloisa will present a paper co-authored with Jakob Henninger and Friederike Römer (both University of Bremen), “Entry and Equality? Union Strength and Immigration Policy in OECD Countries”. (23.05.2022 14.00) In the paper, the authors use data on immigrant rights and immigration entry policies from the IMPIC dataset to assess whether trade unions drive restrictive or liberal immigration policy.
