In order to understand the happenings in Iran it is necessary to, first
of all, understand its legal system. We would need to understand what is
Shia Islamic jurisprudence and what's history of it within Iranian
society, in particular regarding women's rights. During this lecture, Akif will try to answer the question of how women's
rights are explained in classical Shia law and how they are interpreted
in Iran and other modern legal systems where Shia Islamic law is
implemented.
