Dr. Flora Ferati-Sachsenmaier

Curriculum Vitae

Flora Ferati-Sachsenmaier received her doctoral degree in Global Governance and Regional Integration from the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) in 2015. In the same year, she became lecturer at the Institute of Sociology, University of Göttingen, where she advised students and taught graduate courses on Ethnic Conflicts and Reconciliation Efforts in the Western Balkans, the Changing Roles of Women’s Movements in the Balkans since the 1980s, and Balkan Conflict Diasporas: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives. Her main research interests are conflict dynamics, peacebuilding processes in politically contested territories, and global and local civil society interactions in post-conflict societies. Her latest publication entitled “Postwar Kosovo: Global and Local Dimensions of Interethnic Reconciliation Processes” was published in the International Journal of Transitional Justice(2019).

Ms. Ferati-Sachsenmaier is currently also a guest- fellow at the Platform for Global and Transregional Studies at the University of Göttingen. Her current research project focuses on the Western Balkans as a contested space of global powers. In addition to working on her research projects, she is also pursuing wider activities related to Global Albanian Studies at the University of Göttingen.
