Birgit Meyer is a German religious scholar and cultural anthropologist. From 1978 she studied comparative religious studies and pedagogy at the University of Bremen and from 1985 cultural anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, where she received her doctorate in 1995 cum laude (highest distinction in NL).
