This lecture introduces a new way to conceptualize migration regimes and how one might measure their outcomes in a valid and reliable manner across countries and time. Based on a database that systematically measures these dimensions and their constitutive demographic metrics for 30 countries, Justin Gest generates a new taxonomy of migration regimes. In the end, he will also undertake a preliminary causal analysis of what drives variation in cross-national immigration governance.
