This seminar will provide some unwritten insights and suggestions to younger scholars for how best to navigate the difficult process of

• getting your research published,
• applying for academic jobs,
• performing at job interviews, and
• applying for research grants.

These insights are derived from my personal experiences of job-hunting, journal and book publishing, and grant-writing, as well as my three decades of serving as reviewer of article and book manuscripts, grant-reviewing committee member, and university hiring committee member. They may be skewed more to the U.S. academic scene, so other European-based scholars should feel free to chime in.
