Claudius Ströhle

Curriculum Vitae

Claudius Ströhle is a PhD student in European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck and currently a Junior Fellow at the International Research Center for Cultural Studies (IFK) in Vienna. In his master's thesis, he focused on the meaning of migration in everyday school life in a Neue Mittelschule in Tyrol, Austria. From 2016 to 2020, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Historical Studies and European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck. He is writing his dissertation within the Austrian Science Fund-funded research project "Follow the Money. Remittances as Social Practice." In it, he investigates the transnational effects, functions and meanings of remittances in the context of labor migration between Austria and Turkey. His research interests include transnational migration, remittances, economic anthropology and inequality, material culture, and ethnographic research methods.
