Dr. Alan Gamlen, 2009-2010
Alan Gamlen is now Associate Professor of Human Geography at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
Alan Gamlen was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working on migration, diasporas and transnationalism.
He recently completed his doctoral thesis in Geography at the University of Oxford, supervised by Steve Vertovec and Ali Rogers and focusing on the diaspora engagement policies of migrant sending states, with a particular focus on New Zealand and Ireland. Alan has been awarded an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Oxford University’s International Migration Institute for 2010. He was awarded a New Zealand Top Achiever Doctoral Scholarship in 2005, and was a Monbukagakusho Scholar in Japan from 2003 to 2005. Alan convenes a core lecture series on the MPhil. in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford, and teaches migration-related topics to Oxford undergraduates.
