Barbara von Rütte holds a Master in International and European Law from the University of Bern (2011) and a LL.M. from the University of Leiden in European Law (2011). Since 2015 she is a PhD Candidate with the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research – The Migration Mobility Nexus NCCR-on the move and the Center for Migration Law at the University of Bern. Before joining the NCCR-on the move she worked as a junior associate in Zurich and as a trainee at the European Court of Human Rights.
Her current research focuses on the right to citizenship in international human rights law. She is also interested in questions relating to membership, participation and statelessness as well as administrative detention of migrants both from a constitutional law as well as a human rights perspective.
