Daniel Volkert

Curriculum Vitae

Daniel Volkert has successfully submitted his dissertation in May 2015 at the University of Göttingen. As a doctoral research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, he studied the political incorporation of immigrants within the German Social Democrats and the French Socialist Party. For this research, he was a visiting PhD student at Sciences Po in Paris. Furthermore, he worked in a project for the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation in Berlin in which the political participation and representation of diversity at the local level in Germany was analysed.

As a research partner he is currently working – in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Karen Schönwälder and Dr. Alex Street – on the political representation of immigrants in German cities with a special interest in the comparison of profiles of local candidates with and without migration background.
