Dr. Qudsiya Contractor

Qudsiya Contractor is an Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. She completed her PhD in 2014 as a Max Planck Institute Doctoral Fellow at the School of Development Studies, TISS. She has previously worked in the development sector on issues of displacement, human rights and urbanisation. Her research interests include the anthropology of cities and development, social identities and communal politics. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and a volume edited by Laurent Gayer and Christophe Jaffrelot (2012) titled “Muslims in Indian cities – Trajectories of marginalisation” published by Hurst & Co.
