Prof. Dr. Tak-Wing Ngo

Curriculum Vitae

Tak-Wing Ngo is Professor of Political Science at the Department of Government and Public Administration. He received his MA (Comparative Asian Studies) at the University of Hong Kong in 1989, and his PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 1996. He was a Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (Wassenaar), and has held visiting positions at Waseda University (Tokyo), Tsinghua University (Beijing), and Academia Sinica (Taipei). He is currently the Head of the IIAS Centre for Regulation and Governance, the Editor of the refereed journal China Information, and the Editor of the book series Governance in Asia published by NIAS Press (Copenhagen).
His research focuses on the history, politics, and political economy of East Asia. He has published 10 books and several dozens journal articles and book chapters on colonial rule, state making, government-business relations, economic governance, and cultural politics of Asia.

At MPI MMG has done research on “Ethnic Diversity, Social Polarization, and Political Representation in Multicultural Taiwan”.
