Dr. Esther Baumgärtner (Unterstadt - Mannheimer Quartiermanagement)

Esther Baumgärtner studied anthropology and education at Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg. For her doctoral thesis "Locality and Cultural Heterogeneity" in anthropology she did research in an inner city district of Mannheim. In addition to city, space and place she is particularly concerned with stylization of life in multi-ethnic contexts.

Esther Baumgärtner was working as lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the University of Bielefeld and as research consultant with a focus on youth and migration.

In the research project "Diversity and Contact" (DivCon) she carried out field research in a district of Frankfurt am Main.
