Curriculum Vitae

In-Sook Choi is now a Senior Advisor at DLR Project Management Agency (part of the German Aerospace Center).

She was a PhD student at the Institute, University of Göttingen, and a former student of the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan. She submitted her dissertation project “The Struggle for Ethnic Minority Rights in Japan and South Korea” at Heidelberg University in 2025 (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Matthias Koenig). Her research interests include minority politics, human rights, and the interaction between global structural transformations and domestic institutional change. Using a historical-comparative approach and drawing on theories of institutional change and globalization, her dissertation examines how global norm diffusion and domestic political contestation shape the transformation of state structures and minority policies.

She holds Master in sociology from Bamberg University and has studied in Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense. She took up a position in the internationalization of science, where she supported universities and research institutions in developing strategic cooperation with partners in Australia, Japan, Korea, Australia, ASEAN countries, the USA, the UK, and France, and now supports the coordination of German research and innovation policy with the European Union.
