Katia Bianchini is now research fellow in the Law and Anthropology Department of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle.

Katia Bianchini
worked as a researcher at the MPI MMG Her research focussed on statelessness, the problem of resolving nationality status and granting protection.

She earned her doctorate from the University of York, where she focused on a socio-legal study of the implementation of the Convention relating to the status of stateless persons in 10 EU States. She holds an LL.M from the University of San Diego, California, and a Laurea in Giurisprudenza from the University of Pavia, Italy.

Before engaging in research, she worked as a civil rights and immigration lawyer in the USA and the UK for about 10 years.
