Curriculum Vitae

Regina Römhild is Professor of Europäische Ethnologie at Humboldt University Berlin. In her former position as an anthropologist she was teaching and researching at the Institute of Sociology, Ludwig-Maximilian-University, Munich. From 2000 - 2006 she was assistant professor at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology, Goethe-University, Frankfurt a.M. In that time, she directed the research project global heimat which explored diverse forms of transnationalization „from below“ and „from above“ in the small global city of Frankfurt. From 2003 - 2006 she directed and co-curated the transdisciplinary research project and exhibition Transit Migration/Projekt Migration. Her major research interests include processes of transnationalization, Europeanization, Mediterranization and Cosmopolitanization in Northern and Southeastern Europe.

She is founding member of the Research Group Transnationalism at Goethe-University, Frankfurt a.M., co-editor of the Anthropological Journal of European Cultures and of Europeanist Studies, a series of the European Association of Social Anthropologists.

Together with Steve Vertovec, she conceptualized and directed the project „Diversity and Integration in Frankfurt“ which is commissioned by the Frankfurt Office of Multicultural Affairs.
