Steven Vertovec is the Founding Director of MPI-MMG and Honorary Joint Professor of Sociology and Ethnology, University of Göttingen. Previously he was Professor of Transnational Anthropology at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Oxford, Director of the British Economic and Social Research Council’s Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), and Senior Research Fellow at Linacre College, Oxford.

Daniel Hiebert is Professor of Geography at University of British Columbia and Co-Director of Metropolis British Columbia, a centre of excellence dedicated to studying immigration and diversity. His research focus on the integration of immigrants in Canadian cities, particularly on issues related to their participation in housing and labour markets.

Paul Spoonley is one of New Zealand's leading academics and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He joined the Massey staff in 1979 and was, until becoming Pro Vice-Chancellor in October 2013, the College's Research Director and Auckland Regional Director.

Alan Gamlen is an expert on human migration. As a researcher, he has written more than 50 articles, book chapters and working papers on related topics for leading scholarly journals. He has an h-index of 18 and his works have been cited over 1,700 times. His is the author of 'Human Geopolitics: States, Emigrants and the Rise of Diaspora Institutions' (Oxford University Press 2019).
