Les bus ghanéens, entre attente, ruses et petits arrangements

von Michael Stasik

This short ethnographic piece reflects on how the unscheduled departure times of buses in Ghana give rise to a distinct set of practices and ruses people deploy for accommodating everyday temporal uncertainty, and how these actions in turn accord with distinct perspectives on the manipulability of time. Written as part of a series on bus stations in Africa that was published in the Africa supplement of Le Monde, it is also meant to increase visibility of a recent journal special issue on the same subject: https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2979/africatoday.65.issue-2.
