Racism and intersecting systems of inequity shape daily life in the United States and around the globe. The form such inequity takes, as well as how young people navigate this context as they form identity related beliefs and behaviors, has implications for their own development and for the society around them. In this talk, Prof. Dr. Moffitt will discuss some of her recent research into processes of socialization and development among diverse young people across multiple contexts. She will talk about how and why she draws primarily on critical, qualitative methods, building on a growing body of social justice-oriented scholarship working towards greater equity in youth development.
