Vita

Moritz Dyczek will join the Department of Political Institutions and Conflict as a research fellow in September 2026. Grounded in Sociology and Political Science, his research uses quantitative methods to study political rhetoric and its role in extremist political organizations. In particular, he examines how potentially dangerous rhetorical tools and frames are strategically employed by the far right, and how these patterns evolve across time and place. He approaches these questions with computational methods such as automated content analysis, supervised machine learning, and large language models.

Current Project(s):

“Violent Rhetoric as a Narrative Tool: Proof of Concept Evidence from the Far Right in Germany”

This project analyzes the use of violent and hostile speech in German politics, focusing on the Alternative for Germany. Using transcripts of speeches held in regional parliaments, the project analyzes temporal and regional variation in violent rhetoric. By combining large-scale textual data with computational methods, the research aims to advance the conceptual and empirical study of dangerous speech in established democracies.
