Fast Forward Science @wissimdialog mit  Ulrike Bialas
Die Max-Planck-Gesellschaft beteiligt sich am Wettbewerb Fast Forward Science, gehosted von wissenschaft im dialog, mit einem Podcast mit Ulrike Bialas “Über oder unter 18?”. In diesem "Ach, Mensch"-Podcast spricht sie darüber, wie das umstrittene Thema Alter das Leben von jungen Asylbewerber*innen in Deutschland beeinflusst.
Für eine offene Gesellschaft
Appell von Patrick Cramer, dem Präsidenten der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, in dem er auf die Forschungsergebnisse des MPI-MMG aus dem DivA-Projekt verweist. Laut dieser Studie empfinden mehr als zwei Drittel der Menschen in deutschen Städten gesellschaftliche Vielfalt als Gewinn.
Abschlusskonferenz des Projekts „Muslim-Jewish Encounters“
Vom 12.-13. Oktober fand in Berlin nach drei Jahren Laufzeit die Abschlusskonferenz des Projekts „Muslim-Jewish Encounters“ mit Forscher*innen aus Frankreich, Großbritannien und Deutschland statt. Das Projekt wurde von der Agence Nationale de la Recherche, dem Economic and Social Research Council und der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefördert.

Diversity assent: conceptualisation and an empirical application
In Ethnic and Racial Studies erläutern jetzt MPI-MMG Forscher*innen ihr Konzept „Diversity Assent“. Sie zeigen, wer in deutschen Städten unterschiedliche Aspekte von Diversität befürwortet. Eine Mehrheit der Bevölkerung nimmt Pro-Diversitätshaltungen ein.
Wie denkt die Gesellschaft über Diversität?
Positiver als Debatten in Medien und Politik vermuten lassen, sagt Karen Schönwälder. Im Interview mit Sabrina Schröder von Wissenschaftskommunikation.de erklärt sie, wie es zu dieser verzerrten Wahrnehmung kommt und warum besonders zwischenmenschliche Kontakte die Akzeptanz von Diversität fördern.

Karl-Kaser-Preis 2023
Am 10. November wurde Mina Hristova mit dem Karl-Kaser-Preis für  historisch-anthropologische Südosteuropaforschung von der Universität Graz ausgezeichnet.
The Oxford Handbook of Superdiversity
Die gedruckten Exemplare des Handbuchs der Superdiversität sind erschienen. Das von Fran Meissner, Nando Sigona und Steven Vertovec herausgegebene Buch bietet einzigartige Einblicke in die laufenden Debatten über Diversität und die Frage, wie diese angesichts komplexer sozialer Veränderungen sinnvoll genutzt werden kann.

CityScapes
CityScapes is a 144 page biannual print publication. It is a hybrid of forms, simultaneously invested in scholarly discourse around contemporary urbanism in Africa and the Global South, as much as individual everyday experiences and activities of the multitude of actors that are actively involved in shaping cities across the continent and the rest of the developing world.
