Dr. Salah Punathil, 2018-2020
Dr. Salah Punathil was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at MPI and a permanent faculty (Sociology) at the Centre for Regional Studies, University of Hyderabad. His research interest includes Ethnic Conflicts and Violence in India, Borderlands and Migration, and Muslims in South Asia. His book ‘Interrogating Communalism: Violence, Citizenship, and Minorities in South India’ by Routledge Press is published recently. His current research involves migration, violence and citizenship question in the Assam state of North East India. He has published articles in Journals such as South Asia Research and Contribution to Indian Sociology. Previously, he has taught Sociology at Tezpur University, Assam (September 2011 to June 2014) and Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi (July 2009 to May 2010). Punathil is the recipient of M.N Srinivas Award for Young Indian Sociologist, 2015.
