Megha Amrith ist seit Januar 2018 Leiterin der Max-Planck-Forschungsgruppe "Ageing in a Time of Mobility" am MPI-MMG. Zu ihren Forschungsschwerpunkten gehört die Arbeit von Migrant*innen, Pflege, Altern, Ungleichheiten, Zugehörigkeit und Staatsbürgerschaft, mit besonderem Fokus auf Südostasien, aber auch unter Rückgriff auf vergleichende ethnographische Perspektiven. Sie ist Autorin der Monographie "Caring for Strangers: Filipino Medical Workers in Asia" (NIAS Press, 2017), Mitherausgeberin des Bandes "Gender, Work and Migration" (mit Sahraoui, Routledge, 2018) und hat ihre Arbeit in Zeitschriften wie Global Networks, Ethnos, Citizenship Studies und Urban Studies veröffentlicht. Megha Amrith promovierte im Rahmen eines Gates-Cambridge-Stipendiums in Sozialanthropologie an der University of Cambridge. Bevor sie zum MPI-MMG kam, hatte sie ein Postdoktoranden-Stipendium am Centre for Metropolitan Studies an der Universität von São Paulo (2012-2013) und ein Forschungsstipendium am United Nations University Institute for Globalization, Culture and Mobility, Barcelona (2014 - 2017).
