Dr. Mina Hristova

Mina Hristova war „Scholar in Residence“ am MPI-MMG. Mina hat einen PhD und ist Assistenzprofessorin in der Abteilung für Balkan-Ethnologi am Institut für Ethnologie und Volkskunde und dem Ethnografischen Museum an der Bulgarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Ihre Dissertation, die sie Mitte 2020 verteidigt hat, behandelt die anthropologischen Dimensionen von Grenzen und Identitätskonstruktion an der Dreiländergrenze zwischen Serbien, Bulgarien und Mazedonien. Im Jahr 2017 wurde sie für ihre Arbeit mit dem Ivan Evstratiev Geshov Preis für junge Wissenschaftler*innen der BAS ausgezeichnet. Ihre Forschungsinteressen umfassen Nationalismus und Identitäten, Anthropologie der Grenzen, Stadtanthropologie, Erinnerung und Migration. In den Jahren 2020 bis 2023 gehörte sie zum Redaktionsteam von fünf Sammelbänden und zwei kollektiven Monographien über Magie und Mystik; die bulgarischen Migrantengemeinschaften; Migrationen, zurückgelassene Familien; gebaute Umwelt und kulturelles Erbe und Flüchtlinge in Bulgarien. Ende 2021 veröffentlichte sie die zweite Auflage ihrer ersten Monografie: We are Bulgarians, but Not Quite. In-between Spaces and hybrid identities in the Balkans in the XXI Century (Sofia: Paradigma). Im Januar 2022 wurde das Buch mit dem ersten Platz des Preises der Bulgarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften für Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen im Namen von Akademiemitglied Azarya Polykarov ausgezeichnet.
